For two weeks in early December, WPC, along with our tenants, conducted a school supply & book drive to benefit the New Community for Children in Washington, D.C.
New Community provides an after-school program for grades K-12, along with a six week summer program that empowers children thru educational, cultural and spiritual enrichment and prepares them for post-secondary education or vocational training.
On December 15th, WPC welcomed New Community to our offices for a Caribbean-style catered meal and presented them with over ten boxes of donated books and supplies, along with Target gift cards for each student in their program to purchase school supplies. Shantise Wynn and John Tucker, graduates of the New Community program who are now in college, spoke to the staff about how New Community has helped them to succeed.

On June 15, 2011, the staff at Washington Property Company teamed up with the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) to sponsor a weekly dinner for the patients, their families and the hospital staff at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. The meal was catered by a local favorite and was served by WPC staff.
The Armed Forces Foundation is dedicated to providing comfort and solace to members of the military community through financial support, career counseling, housing assistance and recreational therapy programs. We offer these vital programs to active-duty and retired personnel, National Guard, Reserve components, and their loved ones.

On May 23, 2011 Washington Property Company hosted several brokers from various firms for a clay shoot at Prospect Hall Hunt Club in Kearneysville, WV. The event served as a special "thank you" for their past and future business.

Washington Property Company, The JBG Companies and Bernstein Management Corporation hosted their fifth and final Monte Carlo Night benefiting Children’s National Medical Center on February 5, 2011 at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. The event completed the companies’ five-year pledge to raise $2.5 Million for the hospital.
Guests of the night enjoyed casino style games, a silent auction and live music by the Voodoo Orchestra all the way from Utah! Promise of a night filled with romance and mystery was fulfilled by Venetian masks, a juggler, a fortune teller and masked jesters, keeping with the “Venetian Masquerade“ theme. The gala featured a presentation by Dr. Kurt Newman of Children’s Hospital, Andrew Blair, Chairman of Children’s Hospital Foundation and Kathryn Cross, a former patient of Dr. Newman and her family.

On November 11th, 2010, WPC encouraged some friendly competition amongst several local brokerage firms, as a way to thank them for their business. The 20 brokers, chauffeured by a neon-lit limo bus, split into teams of three and competed in a 120-lap endurance race, which they finished in about 2 hours.
The WPC team comprised of Derek Hendon (President of WPC Management), Marc Witowski (Vice-President of Leasing) and Eric Black (Construction Manager) came out victorious with a 2-lap lead over the other teams. Edge Commercial finished in second place and the Transwestern team came in third. Trophies were distributed to all winners and the brokers recovered with a hot, BBQ lunch provided by Red, Hot & Blue.

On, October 5, 2010, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett joined numerous local elected officials and business and community leaders to celebrate the official launch of the Ripley District in downtown Silver Spring. The launch featured a groundbreaking ceremony for 1150 Ripley Street, a new 17-floor, 417,000 square-foot, 286-unit apartment complex being developed by Washington Property Company. It is the first major construction project within the Ripley District in almost 20 years. Guests enjoyed a catered lunch provided by the local tastes of Olazzo, Negril, the Jamaican Eatery and the Big Greek Café. A ceremonial groundbreaking led by Charles K. Nulsen, III of WPC took place following the program.

The event has made great strides in raising over $2 Million towards its five-year goal of $2,500,000.
At the “Roaring Twenties” themed affair, guests enjoyed casino style games, musical entertainment, a silent auction and photo opportunities with the Champagne Showgirls from Las Vegas! The night featured a presentation by Dr. Kurt Newman of Children’s Hospital and Matthew Wellington, a former patient of Dr. Newman.

On August 27, 2009, Washington Property Company hosted 15 brokers from various firms for a crab feast aboard a fishing boat in the Chesapeake Bay. The event served as a special “thank you“ for their business over the past year.

On December 16, 2009, the staff at Washington Property Company teamed up with the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) to sponsor a holiday dinner for the patients, their families and the hospital staff at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.
The special meal was catered by a local favorite and was served by WPC staff and members of the AFF. Following dinner, the patients received gift bags put together by WPC. It was a rewarding experience for everyone and we look forward to future contributions.
Following the completion of the 8-story office building in Gaithersburg, MD, brokers were invited to a late afternoon luau on the top floor of the building. Guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres, Southsides as the specialty drink and a live performance by Polynesian dancers. Upon leaving the party, brokers were given a Summit logo beach towel as a keepsake.

On September 18, 2009, brokers were treated to a luncheon in the partially constructed 8-story office building in Gaithersburg, MD. The guests enjoyed a buffet luncheon featuring the tastes of the local Washingtonian Center restaurants as well as personalized caricaturist drawings in front of the building. Due to windy conditions, the hot air balloon rides were unable to launch, but brokers were able to take the elevator to the top floor of the building for a bird’s eye view of the area.
